Medfield State Hospital, built in 1895, is now a state-own historic area. Stroll along the beautiful grounds, walk your dog, and take in the breathtaking views of the Charles River. Learn about the tumultuous history of the site and tour the building where several Hollywood movies have been filmed.
Check out the breathtaking sites of the Medfield Rhododendrons. Visitors are asked to enjoy the sites with special care, as some of the rhododendron species are very rare, a few even near extinction. For the best experience, visit in late June when blooms will be at their peak. View the spectacular displays on a gentle, quarter-mile trail.
What was once a 19th century pasture, Shattuck Reservation is now a beautiful forest full of oak and pine trees. Evidence of its history as a pasture is found in the stone walls dotting the surrounding land. A moderate-skill main trail spans one and a half miles with smaller side trails attached. Visit in the fall to get a gorgeous view of the changing leaves.
